I love wine! I can't say that I really know anything about wine but I do drink a lot of wine. There is something very cosy and comfortable about wine. I like to drink it in a big glass although in Paris it will be served to you often in a small round glass also known as "ballon". Wine is the perfect drink for a romantic evening. I also cannot find a better combination than to be around my close friends and a good bottle of red wine.
Here is a selection of my favourite drinking spots in Paris:
#1 The Wine & Bubbles, 3 rue française (Paris 1er)
Just beside the Barbara Bui boutique in the very trendy neighbourhood of "Etienne Marcel". Order a plate of cheese to go with your wine! In summer time there is a nice terrace outside.
#2 Au père Louis, 38 Rue Mr Le Prince (Paris 6è)
The place is divided in a restaurant and a bar. This place is noisy, come here with friends and order some "charcuterie" plate that you will have on a wine barrel.
#3 Wine 133, 133 avenue des Champs Elysées (Paris 8è)
Go there at lunch time during week days. You have to go downstairs in the Publicis Drugstore. Enjoy a nice meal with the recommended wine depending on your plate. I think this place is a little overpriced for a weekday’s lunch, but I guess I enjoy so much being a little decadent sometimes...
#4 Chai 33, Bercy Village- 33 Cour Saint Emilion (Paris 12è)
Eat in the terrace (the inside is quite ugly). When it gets chilly there are some nice outdoor heaters. Once you have chosen your meal go downstairs in the cave and get advised by a sommelier on the wine you should have. Try one or 2 different ones and bring the chosen bottle to your table.
